1979年6月8日にフ ロリダ州ジャ クソンヴィル生まれ。オー ルマン・ブラザーズ・バンドのオリジナル・メンバーであるブッ チ・トラックスの甥で、9歳でギターを 始める。

Derek Trucks

現在はオールマン・ブラザーズのギタリストである一方、自身のデレク・トラックス・バンドでも活動している。
『ジョイフル・ノイズ』（２００２年）がデレク・トラックス・バンドのソニー・ミュージックレコーズの初作だった。これでメンバーが大体決まった。 Kofi Burbridge – キー ボード、フ ルート,ヴォー カル、Todd Smallie – ベー ス、ヴォーカル、Yonrico Scott – ド ラム、パー カッション、ヴォーカル。リー ドヴォーカルがまだ決めないで、色んなゲストヴォーカリストが参加した。そして、色んなジャンルも試してみたの。ブルーズ、ソール、フュージョ ン、ラテン、インド・クラシックなど。

著名ミュージシャンの様々なセッションにも参加し、2006年にはエ リック・クラプトンのツアーにも同行した。ちなみに彼の名前「デレク」は、デュ アン・オールマンが参加したクラプトンのバンド、デ レク・アンド・ザ・ドミノスから取られている。

Joyful Noise (2002)

Born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 8, 1979, Derek Trucks is one of the finest slide guitarists in the world. Prodigiously gifted, he was taking paid gigs by the age of 11 and released his first album under his own name before his 18th birthday. As the nephew of Allman Brothers Band drummer, Butch Trucks, and with Eric Clapton’s alter ego Derek, of Layla fame, as his namesake, it was perhaps inevitable that he would introduce Duane Allman’s innovations to a new generation.

Joyful Noise (2002) was his major-label debut and saw the line-up of the Derek Trucks Band solidify. Todd Smallie had been holding down bass duties since Derek’s first album, while drummer, Yonrico Scott, had also been in the band for several years. Kofi Burbridge, on keyboards, flute & some vocals, was the key addition, providing a necessary foil for Derek and moving the music in a jazzier direction.

With no lead vocalist in the band at the time of recording, the band relied on several guest vocalists including Trucks’ wife, Susan Tedeschi, salsa star, Ruben Blades and soul legend, Solomon Burke. The band also experimented with a wider variety of styles, exploring salsa, fusion and even Eastern classical music in addition to the expected blues and soul.
